GrieeX Privacy Policy
Last updated: 4 November 2026
This policy explains how the legacy GrieeX Android applications handle personal data. It covers local collection storage and the network services used by the apps, including analytics, advertising and optional account connections.
Scope and responsibility
Kaya Altın is responsible for the personal data processed to provide and support GrieeX. Contact info@griee.com for privacy questions or requests. This policy covers GrieeX - Movies & TV Shows (com.grieex) and GrieeX - Movies & TV Shows Pro (com.grieex.pro) for Android. It does not describe the separate current griee application.
Features and integrated services vary by edition and installed version. GrieeX is not an entirely offline application: searches, artwork, analytics, advertising and integrations can send information to external services. A Pro purchase does not by itself disable all analytics or third-party SDK processing.
Your collection, device storage and permissions
Movie and TV records, ratings, watched status, lists, notes, cached artwork and settings are stored in the application’s local database, cache and preferences. They are used to display and manage your collection. Search and integration requests can still transmit information described below; local storage does not mean that every app operation remains on your device.
Import, export and backup features read or write collection files in device storage. Depending on Android and app version, storage permission may be requested. Older releases also use Android account and sync permissions to register the app’s sync account and manage synchronization. You can review and revoke permissions in Android settings; affected features may stop working.
Android device backup may include application data where enabled in the installed version and your device settings. Backups and exported files can outlive an uninstall. Manage or delete those copies separately in the storage or backup service where they are kept.
Searches, metadata and external links
When you search for a title, refresh metadata or download artwork, the relevant content provider receives the request, including the search text or title identifier, language or request options and network information such as your IP address. Depending on the feature and version, providers include TMDB, TheTVDB, IMDb and Trakt. They process requests to return movie, TV, cast, artwork or other requested information.
Opening trailers, websites or social sharing features passes you to external services. If you choose to share a title or link using Facebook, Twitter/X or another app, the selected content is sent to that destination. Integrated social SDKs can also process device and network information according to their configuration and provider policies. Their presence should not be interpreted as requiring you to post or connect a social account.
Analytics and diagnostics
GrieeX releases include Google Analytics and Firebase Analytics components. The application records screen views and contains diagnostic and event reporting. Depending on the installed release and service configuration, Google may process app interactions, timestamps, app and operating system versions, device information, app-instance or device identifiers, IP-derived approximate location and diagnostic information. These services support usage measurement, troubleshooting and service reliability.
Exception reporting can include an error description and technical execution context. A device’s diagnostic or advertising settings do not necessarily disable every analytic event. This policy does not promise an in-app analytics switch where the installed version does not provide one.
Google explains its processing at https://policies.google.com/privacy and https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy. Provider collection and retention depend on the SDK version, configuration and applicable user settings.
Advertising and the Pro edition
The free edition includes Google Mobile Ads / AdMob integration. Ad requests and SDK operation can involve IP address, approximate location derived from IP, advertising or other device identifiers, app interactions and diagnostic information. Google uses relevant information to deliver and measure ads, detect fraud and operate its services. Personalization depends on applicable consent, SDK configuration and Google or device settings; this policy does not assert that all ads are non-personalized.
The application checks for the Pro edition before loading banner ads in the reviewed implementation. The advertising SDK can nevertheless be initialized before that check. Pro should therefore not be understood as a guarantee that advertising-related SDKs are absent or that no third-party processing occurs.
You can manage advertising privacy controls in Android and your Google account where available. Such controls may limit personalization or identifier use without stopping every network request. More information is available at https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
Optional Dropbox and Trakt connections
If you authorize Dropbox, backup and transfer features can upload or download your collection files to your Dropbox account. Those files can contain your saved titles, ratings, notes, lists and other collection fields. Authorization credentials are retained in the app’s local storage so it can perform the connected operations. Dropbox processes the transferred files, account authorization and network requests under its own terms and policy: https://www.dropbox.com/privacy.
If you connect Trakt, authorization credentials are retained locally and the connected features exchange relevant collection activity, watched status, ratings, lists or comments with Trakt as you use them. Trakt associates connected activity with your Trakt account under https://trakt.tv/privacy.
You can revoke access through the provider’s connected-app settings and use any disconnect controls offered by your installed app version. Revoking access does not automatically erase previously uploaded backups or activity. Delete those separately with the provider. Do not include credentials in support messages.
Purchases, support and processing purposes
Google Play handles purchases of the paid app and related payment processing under its own policy. GrieeX does not ask you to enter payment card details into the collection editor. Google Play may provide transaction and entitlement information to the developer for purchase administration, refunds and support.
If you contact info@griee.com, we process your email address, message and any attachments you choose to provide to answer the request and resolve the issue. Send only information needed for the request. Do not send passwords, full payment details or collection files you do not want reviewed.
Data is used to provide requested collection and integration features, answer support requests, administer purchases, measure usage, diagnose errors, deliver advertising where applicable, prevent abuse and meet legal obligations. Where data protection law requires a legal basis, requested service operations rely on contractual necessity, proportionate support and security operations on legitimate interests, legally required records on legal obligation, and processing requiring consent on that consent. Publishing this policy does not obtain consent or replace any consent required in the app.
Recipients, retention and security
Information is received by the providers involved in the feature you use, including Google services, metadata providers, Dropbox, Trakt, social destinations and support email providers. These recipients can process data outside your country under their policies and applicable transfer arrangements. Information may also be disclosed where required by law or necessary to address a valid legal or security request.
Local collection data remains until you remove records or app data, subject to separately retained exports, device backups and provider copies. Support correspondence is retained as needed to resolve the request and any applicable legal or dispute obligations. Purchase records may be retained to meet accounting, tax or other legal requirements. Analytics, advertising and connected-service records are subject to the relevant provider’s retention settings and policies; this policy does not promise a single deletion deadline across those services.
Keep your device and backup accounts secure. Collection exports can contain personal notes and should be treated as private files. No blanket promise is made that local files, backups or every legacy integration are encrypted. No storage or transmission method can guarantee absolute security.
Your choices and privacy rights
You can delete local records, clear application storage or uninstall the app using Android controls. Back up anything you want to keep first. Delete exported files and cloud or device backups separately. To stop an integration, revoke its authorization with the provider; to stop all further app activity, stop using or uninstall the app.
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, erase or obtain a copy of your personal data, restrict or object to processing, withdraw consent and complain to a data protection authority. Contact info@griee.com with your request and the app edition involved. We may request proportionate information to verify your identity. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of prior processing.
The developer cannot directly erase records held solely in your local installation or independently controlled provider accounts. We can explain available deletion steps and handle information under our control. Some records may need to be retained where law permits or requires it; we will explain applicable limitations in responding.
Children and policy changes
GrieeX is not designed specifically for children. Do not connect external accounts or make purchases without any permission required by your local law. If you believe a child’s personal data has been processed improperly, contact info@griee.com so we can investigate and address information under our control and relevant provider requests.
Changes to this policy will be shown on this page with an updated date. Material changes will receive any notice or consent required by applicable law. A policy update does not itself enable new permissions or satisfy a separate consent requirement. Privacy contact: Kaya Altın, info@griee.com.
